Ashton Morton Slack is delighted to have been accepted onto the list of approved personal injury solicitors compiled by Headway - the brain injury association. This is in recognition of the significant expertise the company has in the field of catastrophic injury.
AMS have also recently been appointed to the specialist personal injury solicitor's panel of the Spinal Injuries Association, this latest appointment is credit to the firm's growing catastrophic injury department.
The firm's ongoing success in this specialist area follows a year of headline recruitments to the firm which have included catastrophic and brain injury specialists, Lesley Graves, Consultant, Zoe Holland, Partner and Ben Gent, Partner and Head of the Personal Injury Division.
"The catastrophic injury team at AMS understands that brain injury affects not only the individual but also the individual's family and friends. Our experience in this specialised area means that we can provide excellent legal advice together with access to an invaluable support network. Our relationship with Headway is an integral part of our commitment to represent and support brain injured individuals," says Lesley Graves.
A unique element of the services AMS will be offering to Headway service users is its dedicated client liaison. Natalie Rodgers will be performing a vital role managing the relationship between the client and their legal team. This service is unique to AMS as it is the only firm in Sheffield offering a dedicated client liaison.
Headway - the brain injury association is a charity set up to offer help and support to individuals who have sustained a brain injury. To be accepted onto the Headway Solicitors List, personal injury solicitors must meet a number of criteria and sign up to the charity's Code of Conduct. The list is published and circulated to Headway groups and branches, Citizen's Advice Bureaus and healthcare professionals. Headway acknowledges that those affected by brain injury can have complex legal needs and that these can be diverse, such as, pursuing a compensation claim, requiring employment advice or needing advice about adaptations to the home.
AMS is a committed supporter of Headway. The firm is a corporate supporter of the charity and is proud to hold the Headway Challenge Baton, a fun and versatile scheme to enable corporate firms to raise money for the charity. The firm is dedicated to reach the target of raising a minimum of £5,000 for the Headway by the end of the year. Through various activities including the successful Hats for Headway day and more recently a charity auction at the Millennium Galleries, AMS is well on its way to reaching its target.
AMS also sponsors Dominic Hurley. In 1994 Dominic sustained a severe brain injury following a moped accident in Cyprus. Against all the odds, Dominic made an incredible recovery. Dominic has recently been selected for the 2012 Paralympics training squad. The firm is sponsoring Dominic through his training.
Ben Gent, Partner and head of the personal injury division commented: "Our selection onto Headway's personal injury solicitor's list is a fantastic achievement. Our catastrophic injury solicitors are truly dedicated to their clients. Their experience means that they are able to understand the invaluable support that Headway offers brain injured individuals. In many ways, we are humbled by the hard work and dedication shown by service users and staff of the charity. Our decision to hold the Headway Challenge Baton was to show our recognition of the fantastic work carried out by the charity."
