Whirlow Hall Farm Christmas Fair

7 November 2007

A team of Sheffield solicitors are swapping the bar for the baa as they head to the farm for the all the fun of the Christmas Fayre. Sheffield law firm Ashton Morton Slack has become the new sponsors of the Whirlow Hall Farm Christmas Fayre.

Last year saw the Christmas Fayre return to the Whirlow Calendar of events for the first time in many years and this year it is back by popular demand. The Christmas Fayre is being held on the 25th November; in perfect time to get into the festive spirit.

Over 50 craft stalls will be present on the day in addition to the traditional farmers' market.  There will be Christmas Trees and Turkeys on sale and Santa will be making an appearance in his Grotto. Robert Bryars, a partner at Ashton Morton Slack, said:  "We are giving our support to this event as part of the firm's strategy to back community based activities.

"When we spoke with Whirlow Hall Farm Trust it fitted perfectly to the firm's community outlook.  We want to help Whirlow Hall Farm raise their profile and also reach more people across the City through their inspiring and unique Classroom in the Countryside"

"We have a number of supporters of Whirlow Hall Farm at the firm and this will give them an excellent opportunity to develop their skills through volunteering on the day". Ashton Morton Slack has more than 140 staff at their Sheffield-based offices and offers a range of services from Wills, Trusts and Inheritance tax and Family Law to Personal Injury. Robert added: "We have sponsored many grassroots projects, including Sheffield FC and we are active members of Business in the Community.  We welcome the opportunity to work in conjunction with other organisations and raises awareness of the community in which we have been based for over 100 years.

Whirlow Hall Farm Events Organiser, Carla Smith, hopes the event will capture the spirit of local people and businesses.  She said: "Last years Christmas Fayre was a great success; attracting over 3000 visitors to the farm.

"We would like to welcome even more visitors this year to enjoy this festive occasion in very traditional surroundings.  It is an excellent opportunity to come along to the farm, and also pick up some excellent hand crafted gifts."

The money raised from this flagship event will help support the farm in their provision of an outstanding learning and development experience for up to 10,000 children many from disadvantaged backgrounds and young adults with learning disabilities and special needs from inner city areas. On the day, there will be delicious locally sourced food available ranging from a hog roast to mince pies and mulled wine. Admission is £2.00 for adults and £1.00 for children to this family day out and there is free parking available.
