Role of the Company Secretary

It is currently the case that all companies, whether public or private, have to have a Company Secretary.

The Company Secretary is often, but not necessarily, involved with the running and day-to-day administration of the company. As an officer of the company, the company Secretary is able to sign the legal documents which the company enters in too.

This is an area of company law which is due to change, and from the 6 April 2008 it will no longer be a requirement that a company appoints a Company Secretary. If you want to know more about how the future company law changes will affect your company, please call Ashton Morton Slack to speak to one of our specialist solicitors.
